What's Happening at your Library?

The Library is excited to host All Things Music with WKIT and Chris Joles.   Come meet rock photographer, and December Stairwell Gallery Artist, Chris Joles, on Saturday, December 10 at 3:00 PM,  as he partners with WKIT to discuss all things music.   Owner of Maine Music News, a website covering concerts across Maine and the Boston area through photographs and reviews, Joles has photographed many a rock star with many more on his bucket list. And the stories he can tell . . .

The Library's Annual Appeal is out.  You may have already found a letter in your mailbox for this year's Appeal.  This library operates on the support and donations we receive from our patrons and members of the Bangor Community.  These donations help us to better provide the excellent service that is expected of us. Any amount you are able to donate to the Library is greatly appreciated and we thank you for your generous support.

While you are waiting for the Festival of Lights Parade to begin, Saturday, December 3, stay warm at the Library.  We've got great kid-friendly events planned.  From 2:15-4:15 PM, come to the Children's Department and help usDeck the Halls.  You can also visit the new glass atrium from 3:00 to 4:00 PM and listen to holiday music from the musical trio AcouSticks Recorder Consort, holiday music played on recorders.

Just a quick reminder that we will be closed on Saturday, December 24 in observance of Christmas Eve, Monday, December 26 in observance of Christmas Day and Monday, January 2, 2017 in observance of New Year's Day.

* The Youth Services Department has a lot planned this December for kids and teens.  Be sure to check out all of the fun things your kids can do at the library.

Upcoming Events:

*The Origins of Man:  Coming April 2017.  The Library is excited to announce that we will be hosting Exploring Human Origins: A Smithsonian Museum Exhibit. In preparation for this wonderful exhibit, the Library will dedicating next year's Bangor Reads to the topic and the book we will be reading is Your Inner Fish by Neil Shubin.  The Library will be holding several events and programs, for adults and children, in conjunction with this event.  Keep a watchful eye on the website for more information.

 

If you have any questions or are unable to find a book you are looking for, please feel free to ask a librarian for assistance.  Even if we do not have access to the book or books you are looking for we may be able to find what you are looking for and have that/those books delivered here from another library.  We will work as hard as we can to ensure that you have access to the information and books that you need.
