Types of
Donations
Gifts
Gift
books are books purchased with a donation from
an individual or organization, or are books from a person or
group that is new or in almost new condition. The Library will
acknowledge the donation with a bookplate on the book. Gifts may
be given for special occasions like birthdays, anniversaries or
graduations.
Endowments
Income from money given to endowment funds is used to purchase
books or other Library materials. These gifts are also
acknowledged by a bookplate. The donor must give at least $1,000
to be a an “named” endowment. This is a gift that keeps giving.
We can purchase books from these funds for years to come.
In Memoriam
Commemorating the loss of a loved one, patrons are invited to
give books or funds to purchase particular items to honor
departed family and friends.
Donation Guidelines
1. Books and movies must be in sellable condition, no mold,
rips or scratches. There is also a limit of 3 boxes per person
per month with the exception of March and April (book sale
time).
2. We take hardcover's nonfiction and fiction,
paperbacks, VHS and DVDs.
3. We do not take encyclopedias,
text books, magazines, readers digest condensed books, pamphlets
or homemade movies.
4. We do take hardcover's nonfiction and
fiction, paperbacks, VHS and DVDs.
5.If you need a receipt,
we need to know how many hardcover books, paperback books or
movies ahead of time. We cannot, because of IRS rules, give you
the monetary value of your donation.
