Open Library The OPEN LIBRARY is the text collection of the parent nonprofit digital library called the INTERNET ARCHIVE.
Become an OPEN LIBRARY member
1. Go to www.openlibrary.org
2. Click sign up in upper right hand corner
3. Create a user name and password, provide an email address
4. A verifying email is sent to you
5. This account recognizes you as a member of a participating library (BPL)
6. Being a member gives you access to the "In-Library" lending program
of 200,000 ebooks

Access Point to the lending library section is at the top of homepage of the OPEN LIBRARY where it says:

 Hello!    Bangor Public Library is participating in our In-Library lending program. Browse the growing lending library of over 200,000 eBooks!
(home access says Maine State Library)

Borrowing
1. Five Books at a time
2. Loan period is 2 weeks
3. No renewals
4. Books may be returned early
5. View your account any time to see checked out books


Facts About the OPEN LIBRARY
1. Books in the lending program can be viewed in different ways - read in a book viewer, read from a PDF file, read from an epub file
2. Some books can be downloaded to an EReader like a Nook
3. Besides the In-Library collection, there are also thousands of free public domain titles available
4. Daisy security means items can only be accessed by the handicapped.
