The Library needs you to help
design its future!
This year, the Bangor Public Library celebrates its 100th
anniversary in its current building, where it
enjoys the largest collection and circulation in Northern New
England. In order to
maintain its tradition of excellence and to enhance the usersí
experience and respond to their expectations, the Library is
exploring ways to improve the library experience, including ways
the existing space might be redesigned.
How people use libraries is changing, and as
technology evolves, the vehicles used to deliver information
evolve as well. The
Library is committed to continuing to provide a central
gathering place with access to modern technology, community
programs and the Libraryís extensive collection.
Repairs to the historic roof, an increase to the
endowment that ensures the Libraryís future, and key investments
in design and programs will ensure that it will remain the
preeminent Library in the state and region for another 100
Before we make decisions on how best to proceed, we would
benefit from your thoughts. We hope that you will share your
advice and opinions by completing a brief
developed by the 2013 Class of the
Bangor Region Leadership Institute.

In addition, the Library will be holding a series of focus
groups in late March to seek more input.

needs of our community in downtown Bangor, or on March 20th
from 5-6 p.m. to discuss the role of the Library in serving
