JANUARY MARKS TEN YEAR
ANNIVERSARY OF “BANGOR READS” at BANGOR PUBLIC LIBRARY
This year marks the tenth anniversary of Bangor Reads, a
celebration of literature. This year’s theme is Bangor Reads
Bangor. It is easy to get involved - just read a book connected
to our fair city and join the discussions at the Bangor Public
Library or in your local book group. Library Director,
Barbara McDade, loves how Bangor Reads brings people and books
together. She says, “people on the street can talk to each other
about books when they are in line at the grocery store, while
waiting for an elevator, or when taking a break from shoveling
snow. This year books show that Bangor is a city worth reading
and talking about.”
Spaced
throughout the month, programs each week target a different age
and interest.
The Goody Gang will read Bangor Books for Kids
(Kindergarten to second grade) on January 30th from 3:30-4:15
pm, followed by a goody, Maine’s famous whoopie pie.
With
sessions covering all age ranges and a variety of available time
slots, Bangor Reads Bangor celebrates books and people from our
city. Over seventy works involve the city, either as a setting,
subject or as the author’s hometown. A complete list of books
can be found at the Library
