Furlough Days at the Library

With an unexpected decrease of $39,000 in the money that the Bangor Public Library receives from the City of Bangor, one of the few options left for the Library was to cut staff members or their hours.  Library Director Barbara McDade states that, rather than lay people off, the decision was made to close the Library for six unpaid "furlough" days during the next fiscal year to save money.   Mrs. McDade announced that the Library's Board of Directors has not decided which days the Library will be closed, but the decision will be announced in the coming weeks.
